Leeds Civic Hall wedding

Looking at the flowers and details for this September wedding in Leeds.

One of the first weddings I had the pleasure of flowering was at the grand Civic Hall in Leeds city centre. An intimate ceremony in the Civic Hall with close friends & family then a celebration after at one of Leeds most cosmopolitan rooftop restaurants, I even got an invite for a cheeky glass of champagne.

The couple getting married were very eco conscious and loved the fact that their flowers would be locally grown and seasonal. The bride sent me an inspiration image of a bouquet that she loved and would like her flowers based around, apart from that she gave me free creative rein to design. The colour palette had 3 main colour elements: a bright blue, a dark burgundy orange and a neutral ivory. So not a classic colour palette in my experience but an exciting one for me to work with.

Going back to the sustainability of the wedding flowers. All the flowers were grown and sourced by a local flower grower here in Yorkshire, I collected the flowers from the grower 2 days before the wedding and stored them in a cool room at my home ready to be arranged. The table arrangements were designed in wooden boxes with ceramic containers inside which meant they could be in water the whole time which keeps them fresh and looking their best. Designing in these wooden boxes/ceramic containers means I can reuse the containers again and again and not produce any waste once the flowers have wilted.

Are you a person that always remembers their reusable coffee cup or water bottle and likes to save on plastic waste? These wooden or ceramic containers are my reusable coffee cup but for flowers instead haha. You can cary over these values into your wedding with designs like these.

With this being a small intimate wedding the accessories and clothing was very well thought of and some of the details can be seen below. I just love the velvet blue carried throughout the groom’s suit, the bride’s cloth bag and the bouquet ribbons.

This wedding was in September and the flowers used included delphiniums, garden roses, dahlias, amaranthus, agapanthus, zinnia, scabious and snapdragons.
