Foxgloves & Alliums

I received these beautiful photos from a wedding I designed the flowers for in May 2023 and I love them! The theme was very much colourful, wildflower, countryside meadows. The showstopper flowers were definitely the foxgloves and alliums giving you that English countryside feel and the couple were lucky enough to have a sunny day to celebrate on.

Foxgloves are a biennial flower which mean that they take 2 years flower, they come in a variety of colours but they are generally on the pink/purple spectrum and bees love them.

Whereas Alliums are a bulb, they are part of the onion family and can have a oniony smell about them, this can put some people off but I love it and they go great on the dining table. They are also in the same colour range including pinks, purples and white and another fan favourite of the bees.

The ceremony took place at Poppleton Tithe Barn, meadow boxes adorned the aisle leading your eye to the end of the aisle where the couple were getting married, here I created 2 giant floor meadows as a backdrop filled with foxgloves and alliums. It gave a real romantic feel to the whole occasion and brought colour into the barn but in an organic way.

Onto the reception which took place in a real life English country garden in a beautiful marquee. The tables were decorated with clear bud vases and candles, simple but effective way of adding colour and decoration. The giant floor meadows from the ceremony were reused here too to decorate the entranceway of the marquee. I love to reuse designs from ceremony to reception because then you can enjoy them all day.

Last but certainly not least is the bridal bouquet, the brief was bright, beautiful and springtime. I used only British flowers in all these designs and the bouquet including these flowers: ranunculus, sweet peas, allium, wild rocket, Columbine, corncockle and gems.
